Microvesicles and exosomes are small vesicles released by the cells into their environment. A researcher at McMaster University has discovered that various nuclear receptors can be detected in microvesicles, and transferred from the nucleus of one cell to another using this route of transport. Identified receptors are related to poor prognosis in cancer patients and thus there are implications for this finding in both cancer diagnostics and therapeutics.
